With these words...

As an indie author you learn a lot along the way of your journey. What works, what doesn't, what others think and like, the list is forever long. I've learned quite a bit as my journey continues into the book world, but even though I have learned, I still fail at times. No one is ever going to be perfect, that's clearly an understatement for me, but I keep pushing forward.

The new Charming Selene hit the world like a storm. It was shocking and exciting to see how many people fell in love with this book. (I can't thank everyone enough for taking the time out to buy it! Thank you, thank you, thank you!) As an author there's parts of me in the books that come close to drawing from my own personal experiences and a thick line between what is real and what is fake. With the Charming Series, it's taking from my life and put into a world of make believe. For each character you write, you do an entire back story of them. That story may never get told, but none the less you know who they are and where they came from. That's the part I love. Giving a life to someone who may or may not play a big role is always exciting for me. That doesn't mean that I don't love each character, it just means that each one has a role and serves a purpose for a time.

While writing Selene's point of view (re-doing the first book) it was an awkward place for me. I had moved on from her and had wrote the second book from Sebastian's point of view, and going back to her, was more difficult than I had thought it would be. Selene is many parts of myself. From the sarcastic girl, to the nervous girl, to the girl who doesn't care about anything... These are all parts of my life and my soul. Sometimes when writing you go to a place you haven't had to go to, to let out parts of you through words... That's just what happens when I write. People say that you can't be "all these things" but in reality, aren't we? We are all complicated, interesting, and deep down loving people who just want to make a difference in our world. Not the whole world, but in our own worlds. We want to be ourselves, we want to be heard, and we want to be loved. It depends on who you are and where you're at in your life as to what and who the character becomes. That's the fun part.

As I begin to write the last part of the Charming Series, I find myself at odds. How does it end? What happens to the characters I have made in this story, and above all else, does it end with a happily ever after? Life isn't always a fairy tale, so do you go based off of that or do you go based off what you would want to happen in your life? It becomes a battle of where do you see yourself or better yet where do you see your character in the future. I guess as I write this final book, we will see how it plays out... But I am so excited to see where it leads.
This is a new YEAR and a NEW positive ME has emerged. It's time to let the past be the past and look forward. I hope all of you will join me on this journey...

One week, almost..

It's been almost a week since I published Charmed Destiny. What a whirl wind of an event. When you publish a book, you sit there waiting.. Waiting to see what others think of your work, wondering if you have done everything right.. wondering if anyone will ever read the book you poured your heart and soul into. These are all the questions I played on repeat in my mind that day.
I have heard many good things about the book thus far, so that's a good sign. Right? This story took me back to a lot of pain that I never thought I would share with anyone, let alone the whole world. From the love story inside the book, to the main point of the story.. It's my life put into a very fictional book. With that being said, I also knew I was taking a huge chance writing this series of books. Family members could be mad at me for what I have put out into the world. Only one thing I can say about that.. This is my story, this my life.. I am sure they have a difference of opinion, but it's my story to tell. These books will always be a work of fiction, obviously, but there is points in the books where you can see they relate to my life. That's the scariest part of all this. The book, Charmed Destiny, took so long to write and finish. It started out with a very different idea of what I had thought originally.. That's the beauty of writing. You never know where a story is going to go. The whole mythology vibe in the books is also because I loved learning about in school. It may not be exactly how they are supposed to be in mythology because I didn't want that. I wanted some of it to keep with the myths, but others I wanted to throw right out. Again, this is just a story.. My story..
People that know me say they are never shocked that I write books for a living.. I have always told such elaborate stories, wrote upon any paper that was in reach.. It's the love of story telling I think.. I believe that all writers just want to tell their stories in their minds, and I just chose to write books to tell mine. With all this being said.. there's a music video that I wanted to share that we found recently that seemed like it was meant to go along with the book. Seriously, love the song. If you have read any of my past blogs, it's pretty much inevitable that I will speak about music. It's just who I am. Haha.
Peace, Love, and all that Jazz- Enjoy the week my friends! Dee

Cover REVEAL

This took some time, and some crazy brain storming... but Charmed Destiny has a new cover. The one I had originally done wasn't working. It wasn't the right size, and I felt like it wasn't what I had wanted. It wasn't what I had wanted for this book. So, after a very long time.. The concept to what you are about to see became a reality. It was a lot of going back and forth on what I had wanted.. what I felt was the concept of the story but not give away too much.

Before, I reveal the new cover (covers, Charming Selene has a new one too!) I wanted to share some more of the rest of the playlist with you.

Let's get this party started, shall we?

Panic! at the Disco- Victorious

Banks- Warm Water

Ellie Goulding- On my Mind

Adele- Hello

Death Cab for Cutie- The ghosts of Beverly Drive

And the final songs will be revealed next week! I will also share quite a few videos for the playlists too. If you want to see the entire list and hear the music, feel free to check out my website.

What if?

When I was a high school senior we learned about Greek mythology in English class. I remember truly being fascinated by them. Clash of the Titans was the only movie out at the time (1980's version) and although that movie was boring as hell, it was interesting at the same time too. Jump to this century and we now have popular movies of the Greek Gods and Goddesses. It has done them justice I think. Well, as the fascination has grown for me, I decided what if? What if I wrote a book, and made the God's and Goddess's in my book seem more realistic? What if you could take a very different twist to the myth's? What if one day you woke up, and you found out you were something more than just your normal old self?
This was my thought process as I had started to write my book. I hope I do the paranormal world justice. Thank you for taking the time to read my blog. See you all on the next installment of my adventure!!
