Discussion of the day

Today we venture into the world of books and movies. When you take from aspects of a movie or book and it inspires you, that's when you know it was good. One of my favorite past times is to watch movies or cuddle up with a book. If you ever drop by my house on any given weekend past three in the afternoon, you will find me doing one of the two. (Saturday is my day off from the world most weeks.)

As you watch a movie or read a book, if it's good, you start to fall in love with characters and you also hate others. It's what drives you to want to finish the book or movie. That being said, movies have a way to draw you in because you can visually go to that world. With a book, your mind starts making them appear how you "see" them and that world. It's a fun place to be either way. Often the real world is a little chaotic and you want to take a break from all the outside noise.

Not too long ago, we watched a movie called Fury. It stars Brad Pitt and many others. The movie takes you back in time to World War Two when the American's fought the Germans. It's not a movie for the faint of heart, I'm not going to lie. It's a great movie and helps you see WAR from a different perspective. When I watch movies like this it always makes me be thankful for the life I have and thankful for the men and women who fight every day for me to live this life I live. I often can't imagine what it's like in a WAR type situation and honestly I don't know if I would have the courage they portray.

The reason I bring up the subject of the war type movies is that while I'm writing this final book in the Charming Series, I need input and a massive amount of research. I can picture things happening in my mind, but often it helps to be able to visually see it to describe something better. There is many movies on the subject of war and sometimes a little romance is even thrown in there. We can all take from aspects of life and put them into books. That's how it works. We use our lives as a platform and then we take from different avenues in our lives and apply them to our work. Often when writing I find that it can be a great way to release all of my inner demons and yet also bring a world I would want to live in.

Today, I just wanted to take a moment to thank all the people who are involved in movies, writing books that we love, and helping us get lost for a while from reality. Thank you!
If you haven't seen the movie Fury and you're looking for something to make you cry and yet find a passion for others, then this is the WAR movie for you!

With these words...

As an indie author you learn a lot along the way of your journey. What works, what doesn't, what others think and like, the list is forever long. I've learned quite a bit as my journey continues into the book world, but even though I have learned, I still fail at times. No one is ever going to be perfect, that's clearly an understatement for me, but I keep pushing forward.

The new Charming Selene hit the world like a storm. It was shocking and exciting to see how many people fell in love with this book. (I can't thank everyone enough for taking the time out to buy it! Thank you, thank you, thank you!) As an author there's parts of me in the books that come close to drawing from my own personal experiences and a thick line between what is real and what is fake. With the Charming Series, it's taking from my life and put into a world of make believe. For each character you write, you do an entire back story of them. That story may never get told, but none the less you know who they are and where they came from. That's the part I love. Giving a life to someone who may or may not play a big role is always exciting for me. That doesn't mean that I don't love each character, it just means that each one has a role and serves a purpose for a time.

While writing Selene's point of view (re-doing the first book) it was an awkward place for me. I had moved on from her and had wrote the second book from Sebastian's point of view, and going back to her, was more difficult than I had thought it would be. Selene is many parts of myself. From the sarcastic girl, to the nervous girl, to the girl who doesn't care about anything... These are all parts of my life and my soul. Sometimes when writing you go to a place you haven't had to go to, to let out parts of you through words... That's just what happens when I write. People say that you can't be "all these things" but in reality, aren't we? We are all complicated, interesting, and deep down loving people who just want to make a difference in our world. Not the whole world, but in our own worlds. We want to be ourselves, we want to be heard, and we want to be loved. It depends on who you are and where you're at in your life as to what and who the character becomes. That's the fun part.

As I begin to write the last part of the Charming Series, I find myself at odds. How does it end? What happens to the characters I have made in this story, and above all else, does it end with a happily ever after? Life isn't always a fairy tale, so do you go based off of that or do you go based off what you would want to happen in your life? It becomes a battle of where do you see yourself or better yet where do you see your character in the future. I guess as I write this final book, we will see how it plays out... But I am so excited to see where it leads.
This is a new YEAR and a NEW positive ME has emerged. It's time to let the past be the past and look forward. I hope all of you will join me on this journey...

It's DONE!

Finally for the first time I feel that the Charming Series is on the right track. The first book, Charming Selene has been revised and basically re-written. Some where along the way as I read the book and began editing this horrible thing I found myself reliving the past. This series in a form is my real life that I just added in other worlds and made a not so believable story into one that could be. I never wanted to write my real past because that seemed too sad at times. These books were my way of fighting back when I couldn't and my way of fighting for the truth to be told. My truth. Characters were changed and added to not be so much like my life, but enough that the truth was in there. Everyone writes from some where within themselves. This series is that for me.

When you start writing a book, you never know how that is going to go... You have an idea of how you want it to start or possibly end, but it's that middle section that you start wondering if what you're doing is even making sense. As I read what I had wrote the first time, it was pretty awful. This isn't me being hard on myself, it was bad. Words that didn't make sense were in there, and it was wrote like a play not a novel. By the time I wrote the second book in the series, I knew that I didn't want it to be like that again, so when re-writing Charming Selene, I took the time to make it more like the second book. This time I was going to write a book that I would want to read.... Hopefully I accomplished that.

Since it's holiday time I wanted to give back some how. I decided to make all three of my books free at one point during this month. It's just something I wanted to do. I know people enjoy reading and I wanted to hopefully help them in finding a story that would put them into another world for a little while. Sometimes escaping reality is the only place we can find our reality. That probably didn't make much sense and maybe I'm just talking to myself... But in the end I want to find a world that isn't always so cold and hateful,  world where love does conquer all....

Hopefully you will check out the new version of Charming Selene. It's been a rough ride, but it's done, finally. Thank you for always taking the time to read my little blog here. It's much appreciated.

One whole week

I survived one whole week on the best sellers list for Fantasy and Paranormal Romance. Didn't think that was gonna happen, but it did! It still doesn't seem real. I just wanted to say a quick thank you for reading my randomness. It's always a pleasure knowing that others out there feel the same as I do on some things.
Okay, enough with all of that.
Let's talk Superbowl Fifty shall we? Did you watch the game? Did you party? Here's a little fun fact about me, I am a huge Denver Broncos FAN! Like fan from when I was a kid. So, of course, we watched the game. I don't think I have ever spoke about sports on my blogs, but today is going to be a first. All I can say is that I thought the game was a little boring towards the end, but overall my team pulled out the W. Man, I am not sure if Peyton has just completely lost his mojo or what, but I really hope he's on the verge or retirement. He's gotta be one of the greatest players that have ever played the sport, but watching Sunday was just sad. I just hope he goes out on a height  of his career.
Now, that half time show... I have heard so many things that it's crazy. People will look for anything to find a problem with something. I swear. I actually liked the half time show. (I may or may not be a massive fan of Coldplay.) I could have done without some of it, but overall I enjoyed it.
Holy crap! Lady Gaga killed it! I thought she did an exceptional job.
Alright, what else do we have this week.... Hmm. Oh yea, I have a new book coming out. It's the second book in my series. It literally has taken a year to finish this project. I took off about three months at one point from writing all together. I think that letting others opinions sink into my thoughts clouded my ideas. That had to be the first thing I stopped doing. I stopped listening to the "naysayers" and did my own thing. That's the only way it can ever truly happen for me. If I stop listening and just do what I feel, I am living my dream, not theirs. We often forget that at times. Always trying to please others, always trying to make sure that we make other people happy when in reality, we have to find a happiness within ourselves. So, on that note, I am proud that here very shortly I am publishing the second book in this series (My third book published) and look forward to moving on.
That's about all I have for today's random words of bullshit. Haha.

So much, so little...

Oops.. I missed playlist Wednesday, but I had a good reason. I finally finished writing the second book of the Charming Series.

That's right, it's finally finished. Now, onto edits, book covers, the list goes on, but the book is finished. I am hoping to publish it very soon!

I was looking for more songs for the book.. I found one that I fell in love with.

If only for now- by Pop Evil.

This song just made sense to me. It also reminded me of a particular part in the book. I want to share the song with you guys today.

"If only for now.. So if you lay here with me now, I promise the stars won't make a sound.. If you stay with me just for a while."

I think those are the chorus lyrics, please don't quote me, because I could be wrong.

There isn't an official video but I did find a video that I could at least share the song with you. If you remember this story is from Sebastian's point of view. Like I have said I am not even sure this book is wrote well from a guy's point of view.. Well, because I am not a guy. But, I really wanted to tell the story from his point of view so you could see Selene through his eyes. I got quite a bit of "flack" about Selene being particular ways. I wanted to change peoples perspective of her. The Charming Series is based loosely on my life and many other books I have loved. I added twists and turns in this book. I hope that everyone enjoys this one.

Back to the matter at hand.. The song. Here is the video. Hope you enjoy!

Time Flies...

I have been so out of it lately that everything is flying by me. I had a lot going on, and doesn't seem that I can make time stand still yet. ( I am working on magical powers. Haha. Just kidding.)
Anyhow, time has been flying by, and not that I am ignoring my blog, it's just lately I can't find anything to keep current updates on. When you get stuck in a writing coma (that's what I will call it) it's hard to come out of it and share with everyone.

I have been working on the second book of the Charming Series for what seems to be forever. I am almost at the end of it though. This book is different for me, I found myself challenged more by trying to speak from the male perspective. I wanted to tell the story from Sebastian's point of view, and yet, let you still know how Selene was dealing with all that was changing in their lives.

When I first had the idea of just writing a book, I actually never thought I would go through with it. Now, I am on my third book (of writing books) and it often still feels like I am a rookie at this. I would say I am though. I don't have a college degree, I don't have people banging down my door for wanting to sign me, I don't have lots of money coming in from my books, that's just not my life. I didn't want that in many ways. All I ever wanted was to write a story that people walked away from going.. Yea, I could be that. I wanted to show the different sides of people, of myself, and more importantly, people could do anything if they wanted it bad enough.

When I get down on myself, I think of you. I go back to the times where I watched my blog numbers grow all across the globe, and how I couldn't believe people read what I was saying. Here, I am in all my nerdyness, just yapping away about things people may not even care about, yet somehow they did. The blog was supposed to always be about me talking about random things that had to do with my writing, but when I took a break from writing, I wondered if people would still want to read what I had to say.

You are your own worst enemy, is a phrase I think of often. I know for a fact that I am my own. No one will ever be able to tell you anything about yourself, that you don't already feel at times in your life. That's also why I talk so much about believing in yourself, and having the power to make that happen. If you can't find that within you, you won't find it anywhere else either. The sad part is that just because I am getting older, doesn't seem to always make me wiser. I want to be that person, but I find that I am often still learning.. Learning about people, learning about life, and learning that every day should be a blessing.

I am always lucky to live the life I live. It could be a thousand times worse, and I have to find some peace within myself, knowing that this is the way you should look at things. Life's not fair, life's not easy, I don't believe it was meant to be. We all have to keep pushing ourselves to do what we need to do in our lives to find the best us we can be. I am not even sure if that makes sense, but in a few words, my point would be do your best for you.

I will try and keep you all posted on the book, but as it stands I have about two chapters left to write, then edits. This story has been a long time running for me, and hopefully everyone ends up liking where the book is going to lead in the third book.

Thought I forgot you..

WOW! It's been a while since I have wrote on my blog. I know, I know.. I should have told you that I was going into a cave for a while.. but.. I have came to spread cheer! My second book, which is a stand alone, is finished! Coming in 2015 Enchanted Legacy will be out near an EReader near you! This book has so many thing I love in a story that I wanted to share with the world. My first romance I loved was Romeo and Juliet. It may have been a horrific ending to a story, but the love was there. Another favorite was the Twilight Saga. Now, again, I know what your thinking. Shakespeare to Twilight? How in the world.. but I loved both. After working on an idea for a while Bridget's story came to me. Thus, locking myself away to write.

Now, for those of you that read the first book I wrote, Charming Selene, I am more than half way through the second book on the writing. It's from a different point of view, so I know I am taking a huge leap by doing that. I wanted people to know someone's else's thoughts and feelings as Selene traveled the road she was and is on. That book, the second in the Charming Series will be out in the summer of 2015.

For the big TADA of this little blog post.. MUSIC! That's right. My first love. The one thing I never forget to share with you. Music. I have decided to do something WAY outside of the box. I am going to try and produce some of my own songs to match up with the books. This way you get a feeling of how the book should read. When the chords are low and sad, when they are heavy and hard, and when they are amazingly beautiful. This is a dream of mine, and I hope I can do this..

We all have to find faith in ourselves at one point. I know that my book is nothing compared to so many others in the Indie World. I also know that if I doubt myself all the time nothing good will come of that either. I am here to tell you dreams can happen.. You, yourself, can make these dreams come true. Nothing is ever easy.. I have known this for a while. People assume that fame and fortune comes from money etc.. it doesn't. It comes from within. Believe in yourself, and you will find that your making your own fame and fortune lives inside of you.

Before the holidays come I just wanted to take the time to let you know.. I am still here.. I am still holding onto a dream.

Best Wishes,

    Dee

P.S.
Next time I am going to share some amazing new music with you guys! Don't miss it! Great bands! For the ones of you that are looking for my playlist that will be revealed soon.. but for now..
I will leave you with one song. Check her out!

Banks- Beggin for thread
AMAZING song!

It's been a minute...

I apologize for not being on my blog like I should be, but I have been working hard on some new projects.

All will be revealed very soon! I am so thrilled with the response of Charming Selene. I can not wait to share with everyone what I have up my sleeves so to speak. New projects are in the works, and in October we are preparing for some big NEWS! I know many people are asking many questions, and I will answer some of those very soon. I will start to give a little insight into what I have been doing. One, writing. Two covers. Yes, I said COVERS. I never truly loved the cover to Charming Selene when it was finally released. So, she is getting a make over. I know that's a big secret I am sharing. I always promised that my blogger fans would be the first to know what I was doing, and that's a promise I have kept. That is one big surprise though. Two, I will have another book out at the beginning of the new year, and it is not what you think. I am excited about that.

I often find that some days are harder to keep pushing myself in this journey. It would be the easy way out to say I am done, and throw my hands up in the air. I do not plan on doing that! I won't quit. Regardless if my books never sale anymore, I will keep doing what I love. I do love sharing stories with people. If you have not checked out my book, feel free. It's on AMAZON.com right now.. and available on any kindle. I look forward to hearing from you.
Peace, love, and all that jazz! -Dee King-

Hey Hey Hey

Sometimes we just need a little funny in our lives. I promised this week we will have new songs for some playlist ideas.. I have had a hard time trying to choose which songs to promote this week, and where they will be at in the new book. (I know I said a new book) I always share with you guys first! I think I have a song though for you all today. It was a hard choice, but I am going to give away one song from a new playlist. Jeremy Messersmith's Heidi is my new song for a character in the Charming Series book 2. When I first heard this song I didn't know what it was about it, but something in the chorus spoke to me. Go give it a listen, and see if you can find out who's song I will use that as in the next book in the Charming Series. Okay, all.. you know the drill.. Peace, Love, and All that JAZZ -Dee King

Monday, March 24, 2014

As I sat here working, I was thinking to myself about blogging. You are probably thinking I was thinking of what to say? No. Actually, I was thinking about authors and blogging. I am reminded of Edgar Allan Poe, Mark Twain, and many other older authors. How in the world did they make it as a writer back in the day? Most people could not even read, yet they had a very large "fan base." It amazes me the power of word. Word of mouth, words in a book, and now even words in a text. I have no clue how so many authors before I have done this. I mean, I have a clue of course, just it is mind blowing. The amount of time that they must have put into writing had to be daunting to say the least. Now a days anyone who wants write. Can. Amazing, right? I have read some books that I thought how did this ever get published, and other books that have left you wanting more. I know writing the series I am writing scares me. To take on this task I must be crazy, but I felt one book would not tell the whole story. On that note I will leave you with a few thoughts....

If you could live out your dream would you go for it or sit on the side watching others? Would you rather say you accomplished something in this life then to have said, I didn't even try?
Until tomorrow my friends,
    Dee King
