Nobody comes with a rule book

As I mentioned yesterday, I talk about everything on this blog. Not just books or music, but everything in between. Today, I'm going to discuss being a parent. That's right, the subject of being a Mom.

Nobody ever says the good, the bad, and the ugly of parenthood. I think people who don't have children often see other kids and think "Awe, aren't they cute?" This is the phrase that's said about a hundred times when the children are young. As the child gets older, everyone then says.. "They are just growing up too fast!" These have to be the two most common phrases said to every mother every where. What you don't see is all the in-between. That child you just told was so cute, might have just stopped screaming in the store because the mother finally gave in for the child to hold that toy the kid was screaming about, or the "growing up so fast" comment comes from when the mother finally gets the child to actually look at the camera and after the fifth shot, she gives up and finally just picks one to share.

There's probably over a thousand self-help books out there on raising a child, anywhere from what to expect when you're expecting to what to except their first year. Then after that you can find books on behavior issues, growing, you name it books, they are out there. Nobody can tell you how to raise your child though, this comes from what I would like to call trial and error. That's right, you try and you have an error so you keep trying other things. As the children grow older you find yourself thinking, how did we get here, and hey, they are still alive, so that's a bonus in the win column.

Every day there is going to be a struggle some harder than others. This can range from an argument over telling your child to please get their shoes on for over thirty minutes as they refuse to look for them, or from a complete meltdown because they can't get their hair just right. Being a parent is literally the hardest and best job I've ever had. Even with all the arguments, the hugs make up for that every single day. There is times where I think, "Oh my god, I didn't even know what I'm doing?" To days where I feel I have it all going on. But the point of all this is, it's life. I am a firm believer in fate and that our lives are often a journey and we make it what we want. This is the life I have chosen. My children will grow up one day and I know that I will look back and think... How did this happen? I also look forward to the day where my children are adults and I can see how they are making their way through this journey we call life.

My children and my past as a child is what drove me to write the books I write. There was a way for me to tell them my story as a kid who grew up and became their mother, but also show them that you can do anything in this life. Hopefully, I'm raising my daughters to see that sometimes from the bad can be good, and we can turn every day into a a new beginning. We have to find the balance of the good and evil within us. It may always be a battle, but I believe the good will always win. You may be struggling as a parent, and believe me, I go through that on a weekly basis, and you may even be wondering, "Am I doing this right?" and the answer is... Who knows? You just have to raise your children how you see fit and hope they turn out to be someone that they can love. That's what life is about... Loving and living life... Loving Life. On this day, I write this message because I do struggle from day to day on questioning my parenting skills... and all I know is that I'm just trying to raise them the best I can. That's all I can do. That's honestly the only thing anyone can do.

So remember this... Your story is what you make it. Will you be the one who rises to the top or let the world destroy the good in you?

Free... Yea, that sums it up.

Starting today, Monday, August 1st through August 5th, my book, Enchanted Legacy will be FREE. It was my first stand alone book. I know it wasn't the best formatting or editing that could have been done, but it was way better than my first one. What an exciting time that was.

The book is a paranormal twist on Romeo and Juliet. The story was loosely based on how my life had been at one point. New surroundings, a new way of life, and having to fight for myself. I had imagined a life outside of what the "norm" would be and felt like it was a way to share with the world, that there's a life outside of just what people expect. In any case, I hope that you get a copy and enjoy the book. It has some twists and turns that people didn't see coming. (Hopefully, you get a little nervous at times for Bridget. That's the main character. LOL)

Thank you for taking the time to read this little blog message. Enjoy your Monday! See ya soon!

Just a little something to start your Monday......

Alright, alright, alright.. (My best Matthew McConaughey voice there) We have made a video for Charmed Destiny. Now, if this works.. I am crossing my fingers, but I am so excited to share this. This was a big collaboration of efforts.

Two Indie Bands let me use their songs for the video. Choosing the songs were easy, though. I love both of these songs and these bands. The Shameless Pursuit and Ships Have Sailed let me use their tunes and I couldn't thank them enough!

The video is to tell you a little of the newest book to the Charming Series. I wanted to tell just enough that maybe others would be excited to see where the story is headed. It's very different from the first one. Hopefully, that's a good thing.

Well, without further ado.. I give you the video for Charmed Destiny!

It's coming...

I swear this book and this series is going to drive me crazy! It's coming! I swear that this book is gonna be the one that drives me right into the crazy house. The book was supposed to be published this month and that's just not gonna happen. We are trying very hard to make sure that this book, this time is going as well as I possibly can. I know that it's not when I said it would be, but I didn't see there would be issues. But, of course there were issues.. It's me. Haha.. Story of my life..

But I promise the book is coming, and I truly hope that it will have been worth the wait. I have heard that it might be.. So that gives me hope. I will also blog more this coming week, but with the deadline breathing down my neck .. Well, that's making it a bit harder. Hopefully, when all said and done this book and this series will be something I can be proud of. Enjoy your weekend my friends.

Peace, Love, and all that Jazz- Dee

It's A-LIVE!!!

This is the first actual week that Enchanted Legacy is live. It's been an exciting ride so far.
We did the giveaway, and that was lots of fun... and I have more giveaways coming up.

I told you all about how and why I wrote Enchanted Legacy, but I never said how much the book meant to me. When I sat down and started typing out the story that I was playing in my head, it was way more darker than I had thought it was going to be. It was a story that from my perspective was a story that many could relate too. The funny friend, the different type of friend, the family that always wanted you to do things their way, the crush of your life turning into love. I haven't really discussed how the character Van was born. I haven't said how is my gay character. I knew that by writing a gay character I was taking a chance. In a world that doesn't accept everyone to love freely quite yet, this was a risk I knew I had to take. I never came out and fully said he was gay, I just wrote him in a way that you would know. I wanted people to love him, immediately. He was a supporting character, and I just wanted him to be someone who people could love. I hope that people will.

In Ireland this week, they are the first country to accept gay marriage. That is a huge step in the right direction! I will never understand peoples hate for something that is truly about love. Everyone searches for the one that they love, and so what if it happens to be someone of the same sex. Are they hurting you? Did they cause you physical pain? No. They just chose to love differently than you do.
We could discuss how people see this as wrong and right forever. I truly don't think it's my place to tell someone who they can love. I sometimes can't fathom that. I can't imagine someone telling me I couldn't love the man I love. Why would you even care?

I am not gay, but that doesn't mean that I don't know about love. Isn't that what we are looking for in this life anyways. Love, and to be loved?

I am proud of Ireland. I am proud to be Celtic. What a way to show that people are human, not just some slave to the man.. Ya know? Good for them!

You may disagree with how I feel, and that's okay too.. Let's agree to disagree.

Love doesn't see color, Love doesn't see size, Love doesn't see gender, LOVE sees you. Love sees your purest of hearts, and isn't that what we all should see. Just see the good in the ones around us? Of course, there is evil out there. Without a doubt, but that doesn't mean you have to be. Stand up for equality, for love of one another.

Now, that being said, it doesn't mean that everyone is going to get along.. That's entirely different. I just mean as a whole, look for the good, not always the bad.. Look at yourself before you begin to judge others.

I hope that when you read Enchanted Legacy that you like Van too. That he captures you in a way that you feel is a positive light. I also know by writing this, some of you are now re-thinking of reading the book, That's okay too.. The story is a romance between a young girl, and a young man who have to fight to stay together, and alive. If that has you curious, then you should check it out. Not everything is black and white, there are gray areas too!

Peace- Love- And all that Jazz- Dee King

Playlist Wednesday

Today is usually the day I discuss a playlist of music with you all. Well, for the past couple of days, I had decided to just upload videos for you to see where I was at with the book. Now, I am at a sad part, so that means the music changes again.

I spoke about Beecher's Fault last week, and am still loving their music. I haven't found anything super new yet, because as I said last week, I am waiting for June. It must just be a great month for music. As the month of April is flying by me, I worry. I worry that I won't have everything done in time. I worry that as summer comes I won't be ready for the next installment of the Charming Series. These are just normal fears for me.

I know that I will get it all done, but deadlines can be a real *itch sometimes. You know you have to get this and this done, but then you worry so much that it takes the fun away from what you love. I had promised myself that I would stop worrying and just do! Just be. Just go for it. Stop looking for the what could happens, and look for the what is going to happen.

Now, with that being said, I did have a song for today. I think I discuss so much of the same bands and the same type of music, that this week, when I did the heavier music, I wanted people to see that we all have different emotions for different circumstances.

The song I had chose was a upbeat song, but I decided against it today. I wanted to share a song from the heart. I will search this upcoming week as I write and finish Charmed Destiny to see how much or if at all if the music differs.

With the song for today, this is from one of my favorite movie series. I loved the words of this song. I know it was meant for Paul Walker, and that the Fast and Furious film, but it's just a great song.

Rest in Peace, Paul. You will be forever adored!

See you again, by Wiz Khalifa is just a beautiful song. I hope you enjoy, and find your happy today.

-See you again my friends- Dee

Days like today..

Days like today where the sun is shining and you feel everything is right with the world, till you step out and realize that it's too flipping cold to enjoy the sun.

Days like today make you want to stay cuddled up in a blanket, laying around, reading a good book, or catching up on your favorite shows.

Days like today, make me happy that I woke up, just to see another sunrise, another sunburst through my curtains.

Days like today, make you question whether it is better to stay indoors, or brace the cold hard truth, that's it too freaking cold to be outside.

Days like today make me glad that I have you.

How true this is!

Yesterday, I wrote about how love can be seen and felt in many ways. Sometimes, once in a while, we do find that fairy tale love that walks right into our lives.
On days like today, I am reminded of that love I have in my heart for so many. I see the sun shining, I can feel the heat of it as I stare blankly out the window..

We all feel the need sometimes to take a break from reality. Take a moment just for ourselves, whether that's enjoying the sun, snow, and ice, or whether that's you and your favorite blanket making up for old times.

In this life, on days like today, think about your ordinary life, and how it may become more a fairy tale if you opened your heart.

Let love in. Let the SUN shine on your face, and let the world see that you deserve the fairy tale you have always dreamed of.

Playlist day!

If you haven't seen 50 Shades of Grey, then you may not know this song.
If you haven't listened to the radio (on pop stations) you may not have heard this song.
BUT, if you are one of the hundreds that did see the film, you may recognize the song.

I chose this song for many reasons. One reason is that I thought the song fit into the newest book, Enchanted Legacy, at a particular part. The words he uses to speak of his love for a woman he is in love with, worked out well.

The second reason is that I wanted a song, that was about love, but also broken love. A love that could be found out of something that you thought couldn't happen. Love finds it's way into our hearts when we aren't looking. We find love and then we lose love.. Sometimes,  you find love in the oddest places, but we all search for love, it's finding it, and keeping it is the secret. We may be broken vessels at times, but we all earn for love. You may not earn for the sappy love story kind of love, but everyone searches for love.

If you are lucky in love then you are lucky enough, is a common quote, I adore.

I find this to be true. Love comes in all shapes and sizes. Love sees no color, no sexual preference, no bias, just pure from the heart, love. Love can be merciless, love can be hard, torn apart, shred you into pieces, and yet hold you to the highest standards that you want, and need.

In 50 Shades of Grey, the books were about love, but in a twisted way. She, Ana, in the book, wanted pure happy love, Christian, didn't know how to love like she wanted. HE wanted her as a possession not as a lover, per say. She wanted to teach him how to love, and he didn't want to learn. The story changes through the books, and his love becomes more possession than the sappy kind of love. In the end though, they learn from one another, and learn how to make their love work. Everyone needs love, just how you use love is what separates us from one another. If you know someone loves you, but you don't feel the same, then you should let them go. Whether that causes pain at the moment, is better than causing pain in the long road. Fifty Shades was a book, that was most definitely geared for adults. I thought the trilogy was very good, but not the best written book I had read. She was repeating the same phrases numerous times, but in the end, you find that you get over that. Well, at least, I did.

Today, the song may have been used for a film, that had to deal with very different circumstances than in my upcoming release, Enchanted Legacy, but the song fit. Find your love, find your peace, and LIVE for today. Not for tomorrow. If you are in a relationship, and you think it may not be working for you, then let it go. Let your life, your heart, be free, to enjoy love how it should be. You can't change people, but you can change how you feel and how you should be treated. Find love in your heart, and whatever and whomever that may be, I hope you find that peace with the one you love.

State of Union

Who here watched the State of Union Address this week? You didn't either? Great! Now, I am not so alone. I actually watched the highlights of it. I feel like we get farther and farther away from what the United States were supposed to be about every single day. We are the land of the free, the home of the brave, and I only see that as one part true. We may be the home of the brave, but land of the free? Not so much. We vote these people into office, and yet, they do nothing. This isn't about being a democrat, a republican, or even independent. It's about the fact that we the people no longer have a true voice that can be heard. For the first time ever, a president, acknowledged transgenders. This is monumental to say the least.

Unfortunately, I felt that was a little to late to show you care about people in general.

We no longer have a voice, we have voices that say this is what we want, and this is how it will be. All of these people fighting and arguing over the same things they were when I was a kid, and before that. People say anything, to just win your vote. We vote you in, then you turn on us. I have always been proud to be an American, but it seems as of lately, we are to hang our heads low. People from anywhere and everywhere should be able to hold their heads high. Everyone should have the freedom of religion, of speech, and the best part, to just live free.

Do we still have those same freedoms that we once did? Do we fight for what we feel is right? I say yes. We wanted a change, and we got that. It just wasn't the change we were all hoping for. Now, politics is a tricky subject, and people can and do, argue for hours over this. This post isn't an argument for either side.

This post is about FREEDOM! Freedom to speak my mind, freedom to be whomever I so chose. This post is for the people that feel like they have lost their voice in the chaos of this life. I don't care who you are, you have the same rights as I do. Why do they make such a big deal over this? You can't help who you love, who you are, your not supposed to have to change because others disagree with that. If you are cut, do you not bleed the same color as I do.

We are all human, and we all have the right to be who we are. Just because a President finally acknowledges everyone as a whole, doesn't mean that you weren't important before. I have high hopes that one day this country, I call home, will stop all the bickering, all the petty fighting, and let people live.

JUST LIVE! Let them be. Let them be heard. Stop trying to take away all of our rights as a human, and start fighting for us. I hope that each of you know, that you are special because you are you! Don't let anyone tell you that your not.

In the words of Martin Luther King... "I have a dream.." And I hope that one day that dream is spread across the world, and we can all act like each persons life is precious. Stop the violence, stop the killing for what you feel is a religious issue. I can't imagine a God or Goddess that would want other people killed just to get to the heavens.

Thank you for reading my rant today. I know I didn't discuss the book, Enchanted Legacy, but in a way I did. I want people to be able to be themselves. Be true to who they are, and you don't need someone to acknowledge how great you are. You already knew that.

Birthdays..

Birthdays are a day we celebrate that we were born. Birthdays are usually pretty great. We receive gifts, we get cake, (if we like cake), and then if we are lucky, everyone is nice to you because, well, it's your birthday. It's a day for others in your life to tell you that they appreciate that you were born. I like birthdays. Not mine most years, I just like the idea of birthdays. Your probably wondering why would I talk about this? Well, today is my oldest daughter's birthday, and I just had one not too long ago. In my newest book, Enchanted Legacy, the main character, Bridget has a birthday that could also be the day she dies. What a twist.
No one wants that, right? I mean just to think of death is scary in itself, but then to think you could die on the same day you were born? That's just too weird. May be your birthday is today? Or next week, and your wanting something great for your special day. This is a blog post for some of you then. Happy Birthday. Thank you for being you.
Sometimes we don't hear those words. We don't hear how wonderful others  think we are, when the ones who are in our lives, think that every single day. Okay, may be not every day, but for the most part. In honor of birthdays, and in honor of my oldest daughter, I will post a new teaser. I haven't shared who the book was wrote for yet, but I am guessing soon, people will start to put it together.
I wanted to share a story that would have a message when it was all said and done. That would be the best part, for me, if people walk away thinking of that message. So, without further ado, I leave you with the newest teaser for Enchanted Legacy. (Bridget's story)

Starry Nights..

Welcome to my blog. This image is brought to you by myself. Haha. No, this is not a foolish attempt to get you to read my upcoming book. This is just for you to see what can happen on a cold star lite night. Sometimes, we need to be reminded of the simple things in life. Let's kick off this upcoming year with a bang. Starting the beginning of the NEW Year, I will begin to share with all of you all the new things I have been doing. This is going to be one heck of a year. Let's ring in the new year on a positive note. That's my plan. I will share new tunes with all of you, even more Indie music groups, and the start of the playlist. Let's do this.. Shall we?

Hope you have had a great holiday, and hopefully a safe and fun New Years!

It's been a minute...

I apologize for not being on my blog like I should be, but I have been working hard on some new projects.

All will be revealed very soon! I am so thrilled with the response of Charming Selene. I can not wait to share with everyone what I have up my sleeves so to speak. New projects are in the works, and in October we are preparing for some big NEWS! I know many people are asking many questions, and I will answer some of those very soon. I will start to give a little insight into what I have been doing. One, writing. Two covers. Yes, I said COVERS. I never truly loved the cover to Charming Selene when it was finally released. So, she is getting a make over. I know that's a big secret I am sharing. I always promised that my blogger fans would be the first to know what I was doing, and that's a promise I have kept. That is one big surprise though. Two, I will have another book out at the beginning of the new year, and it is not what you think. I am excited about that.

I often find that some days are harder to keep pushing myself in this journey. It would be the easy way out to say I am done, and throw my hands up in the air. I do not plan on doing that! I won't quit. Regardless if my books never sale anymore, I will keep doing what I love. I do love sharing stories with people. If you have not checked out my book, feel free. It's on AMAZON.com right now.. and available on any kindle. I look forward to hearing from you.
Peace, love, and all that jazz! -Dee King-

Let's Discover

Today we are discussing the book, Beautiful Creatures. This book is a series. I read this book, a few years back. I really thought at the time it may have been a younger read than I was use to. I ended up really liking the story, and loved the movie. The story is of a girl who is witch, and at the age of seventeen she will chose light or dark magic. This story was very cool. I feel in life we chose to be good or bad at times. We are always having to evolve. We have to make choice's every single day that effect us. We may think we have made a good choice, and then we find out that we may not have made the best choice. Life is full of choice's, and how we deal with them is what makes us who we are. The book, the move, is good! The love story within a girl's fight for just wanting to be a normal girl, is a story we all can relate too. What is normal though? I think we put to much pressure on ourselves to be "normal". Normal should be whatever you are, and whoever you chose to be. Not what society claims to be normal. I hope you will give the book a try, and may be even the movie? Talk to you soon- Dee King

Books turned into films

Today on my facebook "like" page I will be discussing books and movies. Books that were turned into films. I have now seen Divergent twice. Once in the theater, and once at my home when it was released. I thought this film was very close to the book. Veronica Roth wrote a book for all ages. It truly was a masterpiece. Telling the story of Tris, and how she defy's the "system" is a way for everyone to see that it's okay to be different. It leaves you wanting more. I truly hope that people find the courage within themselves as Tris does. Some of you may be asking what does this have to do with my books or my writing? I will explain that. I love to read. It's how I started writing to begin with. I want to share some of my favorites, and some of my love for the YA genre.https://www.facebook.com/AuthorDeeKing?ref=hl  Feel free to come like my page and join in on the fun! Peace, love, and all that Jazz :)

Hey Hey Hey

Sometimes we just need a little funny in our lives. I promised this week we will have new songs for some playlist ideas.. I have had a hard time trying to choose which songs to promote this week, and where they will be at in the new book. (I know I said a new book) I always share with you guys first! I think I have a song though for you all today. It was a hard choice, but I am going to give away one song from a new playlist. Jeremy Messersmith's Heidi is my new song for a character in the Charming Series book 2. When I first heard this song I didn't know what it was about it, but something in the chorus spoke to me. Go give it a listen, and see if you can find out who's song I will use that as in the next book in the Charming Series. Okay, all.. you know the drill.. Peace, Love, and All that JAZZ -Dee King

Tame the dragon

That phrase about "taming your inner dragons" exactly what does that mean? Does it mean conquer your fears? Does it mean listen to your inner voice? I do not know what it means to everyone, but for me this would be about overcoming my fears. As my book is getting ready to be published, all of my fears are front and center.

When I started this venture, I honestly thought I would never have the courage to go through with it. I knew I would finish the book, but I figured that I would never tell anyone. Then it started to become where I wanted to share the story with other's just to see what they thought. Next thing you know, here I am, writing two blogs, running multiple social media outlet's, and enjoying every minute of it. I will be facing the big FEAR very very soon! Once the book is published, that's all FOLKS! It will be out for the entire world to read.. I, of course, am my own worst critic. I feel that I should be, nothing is perfect. I have yet to find that one perfect thing.. so mine will be no different.

My question today is Have you faced your FEARS? If not? Let's do this together, shall we?!

Greece overlook

An overview of Greece.. is this where Selene goes in the next book? Who wouldn't want to? How beautiful is this? Stay tuned!
