Back in the groove

After taking so much time off from blogging it's time to get back to it. When you have to write a book, social media, and try to run a household it can be time consuming. I let the blogging fall to the wayside. That probably wasn't a smart idea, but none the less it was something I had to give up for a while.

That being said, I'm starting this new year off with a great mentality and wanting to move forward. This blog is where I discuss every thing. Literally. Not just about the books, but life in general. Today we shall talk about one of my favorite subjects. Music. (Didn't shock ya, did I? Haha.)
When I write I listen to music, when I sit at my desk, I listen to music, when I do anything.. I listen to music. That's a lot of listening to music. In our house, we listen to music constantly. It's something that runs in our blood you could say. From the time I was a young child, I sang in front of people. (That doesn't happen now, but I will burst out into random song for no reason. That's always fun with the kids. They don't think so, but it makes me happy.) Then I did choir for many years... So music is just something I do you could say. On this blog, I've promoted many bands, many Indie bands, and music that people don't know very well. It's something I have prided myself in, due to the fact, that I'm an indie author.

While that all being said, it's hard sometimes to find a song that goes along with the books. The playlists take a lot of time to make too. I'm always looking for songs to describe what's happening in each chapter whether happy or sad or often angry with a splash of dark. The last book in the Charming Series is going to be one that I have avoided writing, but now look forward to.
When my ideas became a reality (to publish a book) honestly, I never thought how the books would end. Somewhere inside of me I just knew that it would. Today, I go back into what I call "writing mode." This means, I try to tune the world out, and focus. (That's easier said than done if you want the truth.)

There's a band that I fell in love with some time back... They've been mentioned here before, but they have a new EP out that worked so well for the start of the book, that I asked if I could use it. (They said Yes, and I was like a kid in a candy store. Haha.)

This song is the lyric video, and hopefully it gives some insight into how maybe the book will start. It's time to close the chapter (I like puns, what can I say? LOL) on the Charming Series. Here we go! One last ride and it's going to be hell, but some way, some how, it's going to come to an end...

Without further ado, I give you the first song on the playlist of the final book in the Charming Series.

RUN WITH IT- As always if you love the song or like the band please give them a like or share or a follow.
Thank you for letting me talk all my nonsense.
Have a great one!

With these words...

As an indie author you learn a lot along the way of your journey. What works, what doesn't, what others think and like, the list is forever long. I've learned quite a bit as my journey continues into the book world, but even though I have learned, I still fail at times. No one is ever going to be perfect, that's clearly an understatement for me, but I keep pushing forward.

The new Charming Selene hit the world like a storm. It was shocking and exciting to see how many people fell in love with this book. (I can't thank everyone enough for taking the time out to buy it! Thank you, thank you, thank you!) As an author there's parts of me in the books that come close to drawing from my own personal experiences and a thick line between what is real and what is fake. With the Charming Series, it's taking from my life and put into a world of make believe. For each character you write, you do an entire back story of them. That story may never get told, but none the less you know who they are and where they came from. That's the part I love. Giving a life to someone who may or may not play a big role is always exciting for me. That doesn't mean that I don't love each character, it just means that each one has a role and serves a purpose for a time.

While writing Selene's point of view (re-doing the first book) it was an awkward place for me. I had moved on from her and had wrote the second book from Sebastian's point of view, and going back to her, was more difficult than I had thought it would be. Selene is many parts of myself. From the sarcastic girl, to the nervous girl, to the girl who doesn't care about anything... These are all parts of my life and my soul. Sometimes when writing you go to a place you haven't had to go to, to let out parts of you through words... That's just what happens when I write. People say that you can't be "all these things" but in reality, aren't we? We are all complicated, interesting, and deep down loving people who just want to make a difference in our world. Not the whole world, but in our own worlds. We want to be ourselves, we want to be heard, and we want to be loved. It depends on who you are and where you're at in your life as to what and who the character becomes. That's the fun part.

As I begin to write the last part of the Charming Series, I find myself at odds. How does it end? What happens to the characters I have made in this story, and above all else, does it end with a happily ever after? Life isn't always a fairy tale, so do you go based off of that or do you go based off what you would want to happen in your life? It becomes a battle of where do you see yourself or better yet where do you see your character in the future. I guess as I write this final book, we will see how it plays out... But I am so excited to see where it leads.
This is a new YEAR and a NEW positive ME has emerged. It's time to let the past be the past and look forward. I hope all of you will join me on this journey...

It's DONE!

Finally for the first time I feel that the Charming Series is on the right track. The first book, Charming Selene has been revised and basically re-written. Some where along the way as I read the book and began editing this horrible thing I found myself reliving the past. This series in a form is my real life that I just added in other worlds and made a not so believable story into one that could be. I never wanted to write my real past because that seemed too sad at times. These books were my way of fighting back when I couldn't and my way of fighting for the truth to be told. My truth. Characters were changed and added to not be so much like my life, but enough that the truth was in there. Everyone writes from some where within themselves. This series is that for me.

When you start writing a book, you never know how that is going to go... You have an idea of how you want it to start or possibly end, but it's that middle section that you start wondering if what you're doing is even making sense. As I read what I had wrote the first time, it was pretty awful. This isn't me being hard on myself, it was bad. Words that didn't make sense were in there, and it was wrote like a play not a novel. By the time I wrote the second book in the series, I knew that I didn't want it to be like that again, so when re-writing Charming Selene, I took the time to make it more like the second book. This time I was going to write a book that I would want to read.... Hopefully I accomplished that.

Since it's holiday time I wanted to give back some how. I decided to make all three of my books free at one point during this month. It's just something I wanted to do. I know people enjoy reading and I wanted to hopefully help them in finding a story that would put them into another world for a little while. Sometimes escaping reality is the only place we can find our reality. That probably didn't make much sense and maybe I'm just talking to myself... But in the end I want to find a world that isn't always so cold and hateful,  world where love does conquer all....

Hopefully you will check out the new version of Charming Selene. It's been a rough ride, but it's done, finally. Thank you for always taking the time to read my little blog here. It's much appreciated.

Free... Yea, that sums it up.

Starting today, Monday, August 1st through August 5th, my book, Enchanted Legacy will be FREE. It was my first stand alone book. I know it wasn't the best formatting or editing that could have been done, but it was way better than my first one. What an exciting time that was.

The book is a paranormal twist on Romeo and Juliet. The story was loosely based on how my life had been at one point. New surroundings, a new way of life, and having to fight for myself. I had imagined a life outside of what the "norm" would be and felt like it was a way to share with the world, that there's a life outside of just what people expect. In any case, I hope that you get a copy and enjoy the book. It has some twists and turns that people didn't see coming. (Hopefully, you get a little nervous at times for Bridget. That's the main character. LOL)

Thank you for taking the time to read this little blog message. Enjoy your Monday! See ya soon!

Just a little something to start your Monday......

Alright, alright, alright.. (My best Matthew McConaughey voice there) We have made a video for Charmed Destiny. Now, if this works.. I am crossing my fingers, but I am so excited to share this. This was a big collaboration of efforts.

Two Indie Bands let me use their songs for the video. Choosing the songs were easy, though. I love both of these songs and these bands. The Shameless Pursuit and Ships Have Sailed let me use their tunes and I couldn't thank them enough!

The video is to tell you a little of the newest book to the Charming Series. I wanted to tell just enough that maybe others would be excited to see where the story is headed. It's very different from the first one. Hopefully, that's a good thing.

Well, without further ado.. I give you the video for Charmed Destiny!

It's coming...

I swear this book and this series is going to drive me crazy! It's coming! I swear that this book is gonna be the one that drives me right into the crazy house. The book was supposed to be published this month and that's just not gonna happen. We are trying very hard to make sure that this book, this time is going as well as I possibly can. I know that it's not when I said it would be, but I didn't see there would be issues. But, of course there were issues.. It's me. Haha.. Story of my life..

But I promise the book is coming, and I truly hope that it will have been worth the wait. I have heard that it might be.. So that gives me hope. I will also blog more this coming week, but with the deadline breathing down my neck .. Well, that's making it a bit harder. Hopefully, when all said and done this book and this series will be something I can be proud of. Enjoy your weekend my friends.

Best Sellers

We often find ourselves, as writers, reaching for a particular goal. That beloved best seller list. We don't start out on that dream, we start out as just what we are. Writers. Then you start to want something more..
You want to see your name on a best selling list. It doesn't matter which one, just one. That to you would say, Hey, you did an awesome job. In reality what it would clarify is all the times you doubted yourself, the I give the hell up's, and the F this shit attitude would have all been worth it. As a writer, author, we tell these stories that somewhere inside of us this is what we want the world to know. We don't know how we do it, we just do it. It's something that seems to come second nature to us. Any kind of award makes you feel like you have been approved. Honestly, though, you write for you.
Hell, I write and never think anyone is going to read what I say. Why would they? I am just another person rambling on about bullshit that often doesn't matter to anyone but myself. I mean I could write some beautiful poetry, love song, etc.. but in reality, I would be doing that for other people not myself. When you sit down and write a book, you are doing much more than rambling on. You are creating a world that somewhere lives inside of you. It may be that it's a world you dream of, or it could be a world filled with your nightmares. Either way, that story is yours to tell. Only you.
Well, I recently made the best seller list. Now, I know what you're thinking.. How they hell did that happen? I honestly have no idea. But, it did. I have it for two different genres. Paranormal Romance and Fantasy. I wrote my first book over two years ago now, and it's just now being read. Do I feel amazing? Yes. Am I worried that people who bought will hate it? Hell yes. Do I feel that I have something to look forward to? Of course. We all want some kind of validation in our lives from all sorts of things. Yes, it feels awesome to have this now, but it also feels like a big brick was just placed on my shoulders. What if the next book is awful? I thought the first one wasn't that great.. In the end..
We should remember why we started writing in the first place.. Our love for telling a story. It doesn't matter if you make a list or if you never sell a single copy of your work. You did what you wanted, you worked for an ultimate goal, and that my friends, is what sets us apart. We, as authors, have to know that we will be under a microscope at times. People will tear your work apart. BUT, it's that one person that says.. I loved it. I cried. I felt such a connection with the characters. That is what makes this all worth it. So NEVER give up on your goals. You never know, two years later, you may just be a best seller too!

YOU GOT THIS! Reach for the stars! Peace, Love, and all that Jazz- Dee
P.S. Here is my shameless plug for my book series. Feel free to let me know your thoughts. These two covers were my concept ideas, I chose the last one.

P.P.S. The book is not edited correctly and had major formatting issues, but none the less, I wrote a book and published it. The hell with it. I had to go for my dream! You should too!

Playlist Wednesday

Today is usually the day I discuss a playlist of music with you all. Well, for the past couple of days, I had decided to just upload videos for you to see where I was at with the book. Now, I am at a sad part, so that means the music changes again.

I spoke about Beecher's Fault last week, and am still loving their music. I haven't found anything super new yet, because as I said last week, I am waiting for June. It must just be a great month for music. As the month of April is flying by me, I worry. I worry that I won't have everything done in time. I worry that as summer comes I won't be ready for the next installment of the Charming Series. These are just normal fears for me.

I know that I will get it all done, but deadlines can be a real *itch sometimes. You know you have to get this and this done, but then you worry so much that it takes the fun away from what you love. I had promised myself that I would stop worrying and just do! Just be. Just go for it. Stop looking for the what could happens, and look for the what is going to happen.

Now, with that being said, I did have a song for today. I think I discuss so much of the same bands and the same type of music, that this week, when I did the heavier music, I wanted people to see that we all have different emotions for different circumstances.

The song I had chose was a upbeat song, but I decided against it today. I wanted to share a song from the heart. I will search this upcoming week as I write and finish Charmed Destiny to see how much or if at all if the music differs.

With the song for today, this is from one of my favorite movie series. I loved the words of this song. I know it was meant for Paul Walker, and that the Fast and Furious film, but it's just a great song.

Rest in Peace, Paul. You will be forever adored!

See you again, by Wiz Khalifa is just a beautiful song. I hope you enjoy, and find your happy today.

-See you again my friends- Dee

Oops..

Yesterday was April Fools Day. I decided that my prank would be no blog post. Not really.                 That's a lie. I actually, was very busy yesterday, and didn't get the chance. My bad.

Anyways, I said we would talk music and I would discuss a little of what's happening in my world. A small world, but we can discuss it none the less.

First off, we should talk about the cover reveal! WOW! This cover just grows on you as you look at it. Writing from Sebastian's point of view for the next book, Charmed Destiny, in the Charming Series, it needed to be a guy on the cover. I also didn't want to pick a male model that everyone had used, or wasn't what they pictured for their idea of Sebastian. It took me a while to think of the concept, but then I knew. A pawn. People use people all the time for their own personal gain, and for me this was going  to have to work together. Then, the cover was born. Hopefully, this is a cover of a book that makes people wonder.

It's been a unique experience writing from a male's perspective. Being how I am girl, and fairly girly to say the least, it has been fun. I like telling the story of Sebastian, to let people see the side of Selene he sees. Although, I have a few thousand more words to write, and probably some major edits, it still is the story I want to tell. Everything I write comes from somewhere that is a part of me. It's odd to make up stories to worlds you want to travel. Yet, they only exist in your mind. It's still so much fun. Hopefully, you all enjoyed the cover, and let's see how you like the next installment of the Charming Series.

I am also in edits for Enchanted Legacy. My dark fantasy novel that is due out in Spring. This book makes me nervous, yet, excites me. It was different to write such a story that would capture peoples hearts. Everyone goes through trials in their lives. I just put them into a very different idea. I enjoyed writing this one. I have been asked if there will be more. The answer is no. It's my first stand alone book, and I wanted to have just the one. Selfish it may seem, but I felt Bridget (main character) needed to stay alone, not a series, not a trilogy, just her story. It could possibly be a little of my story too. Again, I write from a place that comes within. I guess I have a dark side.

That's all about the books at this moment. We are working hard on the giveaway that will happen on my facebook page. There is SO much being given away. I never thought I would have done all this, but I am. I hope that you will join us on that day. I shall share when that is, at a later date.

Now, MUSIC!

So many bands, so little time. Then when it comes to me telling you about it, I often forget who I was going to share with you all... Because, again, so many bands, so little time. BUT today, I found some music that fits my feelings, my thoughts lately, and bands or singers that I love. We all know by now, that I have favorites. I share them almost every time. I am a big fan of those bands. I also have shared music that is Indie, that are looking for their big break. Those bands always give me hope. To know that when you start out you just want to share music with the world. Not because your label tells you to do this or do that, not because you want to make millions, but simply, to share with the world.

Today, I wanted to talk about a singer who I fell in love with.
Banks. I have spoke about her before, but I don't think many of you know her. She has a beautiful voice. Some of her songs are very sexual, but for the most part her music makes you feel alive. A song that has words that you can understand, words that you have thought.
Waiting Game, by Banks, is a great song. It's not played often on the radio, but I do love it!

Alt-J!
If you don't know this band, then you should. They released their second album recently, and has already won awards in the United Kingdom. The radio station I listen to help break this band. They stumbled upon something great. Check them out TODAY!

Phantogram. This band is just cool. A male and a female band like The Broods. Whom I adore. They have a unique sound, a great sound. I listen to them quite a bit too.

Now, you may be wondering why I never mention country music, or anything like that. Well, like the saying goes.. to each their own. Alternative music is just what I listen to. I will never tell you that I listen to everything, because that's a lie. I do listen to a lot of spotify, and radio... but usually, I listen to the same type of music. It's just the music I enjoy.

That's about all I got for today. I hope each of you have a great, and blessed weekend.
Peace, Love, and all that Jazz. -Dee King-

It's Playlist Wednesday

This week is flying by.. Sorry, I didn't fill you all in on Monday, but busy bee seemed to be my name. There is a lot happening in my little world right now, I am trying to play catch up. Today, I am going to "catch" you all up in my world. We have music coming out EVERYWHERE! We have bands people have never heard, that deserve the break. I finished the cover for Charmed Destiny. The next book, in my Charming Series, and I have been enjoying the beautiful weather. I am going to try to post some pictures of the bands or their videos for you. I won't be sharing the new cover quite yet, but that is coming soon, too.

We are just going to jump right in, and hope for the best. Haha.

First of all I have a couple of new bands, that have really rocked the Indie world.
Alice Sweet Alice, has really gone beyond the call for their fans. They have a great song, that I listened to, and now have all their songs downloaded on my computer. Now, another band that has a sweet, kick ass, sound, is The Sun Pilots.
Loved their sound, they have an alternative edge that you could really get behind.. Take a listen, it was well worth it.

Kicking Sunrise, was another one that I liked, I thought the music was different, and I do like different.
This morning I had a band that sent me their music also.
(FYI I DO LOVE THIS!)
This band was pretty damn good. At first, I was like, sounds like other stuff, but then it was like, OH YES! I am digging this. They are the Bedroom Hour. Man, you have to check them out!

Now, I get bands all day asking for if they will make it into my blog.

I am not gonna lie, I don't like everyone of them. Some just aren't my cup of tea per say, but I do enjoy getting to find music, and sharing it with people. It's pretty awesome. I am a nobody as far as the MUSIC world goes, but if I can give back, then hell yes I will.

Music is my muse, and it helps me feel when I write. Being able to have a lot of different music also captures what I want to write. For every song there is a feeling.. and for every feeling, there is a song.

With Enchanted Legacy I went a darker route, do to the fact that the book, is a dark, romance, crazy, witch twisting novel. Yes, I said WITCH, and yes the main Character is a Witch.

That being said, I wanted to bring a different take on witches, and the paranormal world. There is a curse involved, and some blood shed, but what would a curse be without blood shed? Some people die, some people are murdered, and yet, some people live to tell a story. I hope that the music I have shared with you all, find you searching for the bands. Searching for why I would use them in my books. You know the game that we play by now, if you like them.. SHARE them, tell them, etc.. I have yet to find a band that hasn't been excited about someone liking their sound. So, PLEASE take a listen see what you think. Be honest, and as usual have a great day FOLKS!

I will be back tomorrow with hopefully more bands, more songs, more everything.. Till then, stay awesome! Be you! Be proud! Be yourself first and foremost!

-Dee-

Playlist day!

If you haven't seen 50 Shades of Grey, then you may not know this song.
If you haven't listened to the radio (on pop stations) you may not have heard this song.
BUT, if you are one of the hundreds that did see the film, you may recognize the song.

I chose this song for many reasons. One reason is that I thought the song fit into the newest book, Enchanted Legacy, at a particular part. The words he uses to speak of his love for a woman he is in love with, worked out well.

The second reason is that I wanted a song, that was about love, but also broken love. A love that could be found out of something that you thought couldn't happen. Love finds it's way into our hearts when we aren't looking. We find love and then we lose love.. Sometimes,  you find love in the oddest places, but we all search for love, it's finding it, and keeping it is the secret. We may be broken vessels at times, but we all earn for love. You may not earn for the sappy love story kind of love, but everyone searches for love.

If you are lucky in love then you are lucky enough, is a common quote, I adore.

I find this to be true. Love comes in all shapes and sizes. Love sees no color, no sexual preference, no bias, just pure from the heart, love. Love can be merciless, love can be hard, torn apart, shred you into pieces, and yet hold you to the highest standards that you want, and need.

In 50 Shades of Grey, the books were about love, but in a twisted way. She, Ana, in the book, wanted pure happy love, Christian, didn't know how to love like she wanted. HE wanted her as a possession not as a lover, per say. She wanted to teach him how to love, and he didn't want to learn. The story changes through the books, and his love becomes more possession than the sappy kind of love. In the end though, they learn from one another, and learn how to make their love work. Everyone needs love, just how you use love is what separates us from one another. If you know someone loves you, but you don't feel the same, then you should let them go. Whether that causes pain at the moment, is better than causing pain in the long road. Fifty Shades was a book, that was most definitely geared for adults. I thought the trilogy was very good, but not the best written book I had read. She was repeating the same phrases numerous times, but in the end, you find that you get over that. Well, at least, I did.

Today, the song may have been used for a film, that had to deal with very different circumstances than in my upcoming release, Enchanted Legacy, but the song fit. Find your love, find your peace, and LIVE for today. Not for tomorrow. If you are in a relationship, and you think it may not be working for you, then let it go. Let your life, your heart, be free, to enjoy love how it should be. You can't change people, but you can change how you feel and how you should be treated. Find love in your heart, and whatever and whomever that may be, I hope you find that peace with the one you love.

Today is Friday, but let's do a throwback pic shall we?

From my first book I published, which is a small series. Meet Selene, the half goddess, half mortal child of Posedion. The god of the Seas. She doesn't know just how powerful she will become in the second book. Charmed Destiny. I am telling all, and telling you the name of the next book. Stay tuned... Charmed Destiny, is not going to be what you expected!

Don't miss this!

Sneaky, sneaky..

For the first time I didn't tell anyone what I was doing. I had wanted a change, but then I didn't. I wanted the cover for Enchanted Legacy to be awesome. Which, I loved the cover of at first. As time grew closer for me to really put forth the effort into publishing the next book, the cover haunted me. So many problems with the first one, that I was scared. I printed the cover out just to see what it looked like, in my own hands, and it fell short for me. I tried to find the person who had originally made the picture, but to no avail. Then you get caught up with the fact of being sued for not giving credit to the photographer or person who made the picture. (Somewhere I had wrote down all this information, and now it is gone.) I searched the internet for what seemed to be days, but then I gave up. I wasn't loving the cover anymore anyways, so why not make a new one. (This task is harder than it seems. Kudos to photographers and graphic designers! You are AWESOME!) Anyhow, that lead me to the past couple of days. Searching, and searching for what could I possibly do with the cover now. I had wanted the cover to say so many things, but then again, not give away the story. I kept going back to a picture of a girl. Not a model, just a girl. She had beautiful eyes, and I felt like she captured what Bridget (main character) was about to go through. This story has been a great one to write. I found myself writing about characters whom I grew to love. For one, I loved writing Van. He is my gay character. I know. I took a big step into a world, I don't really know, but I loved him. I enjoyed telling my side of Romeo and Juliet. A tragic love story that NEVER ended the way anyone wanted it to end. I wanted to tell a paranormal, dark, romantic story, with love for all. A story about believing in one self. That's the hope with this book. It's time for me to reveal the final cover. No more mind changing ideas, just me and you checking out the new book. What's the big deal, right?

Alright, so without further ado, I give you the new COVER for Enchanted Legacy.
